School fashion shows can be quite fun if done properly. If done the wrong way, however, it could end up being one boring affair which is only occasionally enlivened by the people laughing at a humiliated model. What you need are some tips to help you.

1) Think of a theme – When putting up a school fashion show, it is always helpful if you use a theme. A theme gives a fashion show a sense of organization and people would be able to relate the fashion to the theme. There are various types of themes to choose from:

a) Season – Basing your school fashion show on the season is always popular. You could design and model various outfits that correspond with the time of year. This would also give you an idea of how to decorate the venue. Basing your school fashion show on a season can help you unleash your creativity and make your brain cells work. How can you balance the freedom of creativity with the confinement of the theme? This will definitely help you improve your skills.

b) Literature – Another great idea for a theme is literature. You should think about basing your school fashion show on a great piece of literature. How about basing it on the book The Great Gatsby? Ever tried creating fashion pieces for Frodo? This can be fun as you will be bringing the visions of authors to life. Basing your school fashion show on a piece of literature can also be a bit easier than other themes since most authors actually have pretty detailed descriptions of the clothes their character wear. This is especially true for fantasy novels. Cloaks, anyone?

2) Music – The music sets the mood for the whole fashion show. It strikes the subconscious of the watchers and thus, determines how much attention they will be paying your school fashion show. This means, of course, that you need to choose the correct sounds to accompany your school fashion show.

You need to choose music that grabs the attention of the spectators enough to mesmerize them. However, you do not want the music to distract the spectators from the school fashion show. The best type of music to use would be instrumental. This is because instrumental music can set the mood for the show without distracting the viewers with familiar lyrics.

3) Lighting – Proper lighting effects are always essential if you want to have a great school fashion show. Together with the background music, the lighting effects give the audience a general emotion to feel. How do you want them to react when they see a certain ensemble? You can make them react as you want them by simply combining light and sound.

4) Spontaneity – Students hate predictability. Because of this, the best thing that your school fashion show could have is a surprise. You need to show your students something unexpected and completely new. In doing so, you will be able to grab their attentions and keep it. By being spontaneous, you will keep spectators guessing as to what will come next. This will keep their eyes on the school fashion show and off their watches and mobile phones. If you can make the audience forget about the gadgets on their pockets, then you would know that your school fashion show rocks!

Some styles recycle and come back to square one. Ties: broad or slim, suits: one-button, two-button, double-breasted and three-piece business suits for men-those have been around the globe a few times. They will recycle again and again. That is why I maintained the same size and body weight for the past 10 years and also buy clothes with longevity and durability as my top criteria. For women: earrings, bracelets, ankle chains, broad hats, slim skirts, short skirts and long shirts are revolving globetrotters.

However, there are those one-off styles. They arrived and left like tornadoes. The punk pants and bell bottom pants were the fads of the sixties.

JEWELRY

Even though wearing jewelery is as old as drinking water, watches are becoming, not only an extremely popular jewelery item, but also they are making very loud fashion statements. Think for a moment: “How many hands do we have?” With international and trans-continental travel being the norm for one out of every five business people in some metropolises, and approximately two out of every 10 vacationers in some countries, it would make sense to wear one watch on the right hand, and another on the left. If one watch kept the time of your home country, then set the other one to the time of the country you do business with, or travel to the most.

DESTINATION CONVENIENCE.

Take Europe for instance: most, if not all European countries have just about the same time. There might be an hour fluctuation between the most remote countries. The same goes for Asian destinations. Most people have as many watches as pairs of shoes. Today men and women match their watches with their other accessories. It is not unusual to see a lady wearing a top manufacturer’s brand, matching her shoes and bag with either her wrist watch or hat, or alternating the colours by matching two out of four accessories. Instead of adjusting and readjusting one watch or the next, it could be much simpler. If you are right-handed, you may decide that the one on your right hand carries the time of the country you are visiting or doing business in, and the left could carry your home time or vice-versa. That is a no brainer.

OTHER ADVANTAGES:

Many of today’s watches are self-winders. The more you wear them, the better they work. By wearing one watch at a time, it might take some people an entire year to get through their watches’ collections. That does not mean that because you have many watches you are being ostentatious. Watches are some of the most practical jewelery items: they not only keep their value, but many times they actually appreciate. Ok, many styles change over time, but considering the prices you pay for a fine timepiece, you had better get in some quality wearing time.

I must confess I love watches. They are my preferred jewelery; each one is different. Each has its own personality. Sometimes I wear one because of the band colour; other times, the mood dictates. One day I watched Tiger Woods doing a commercial for a famous sporting watch company. As soon as he showed off the beautiful orange band, I glanced at the shoes I was wearing, and the double-watch seed was born.

HINTS:
The merry-go-round of which brands are hot and which are past tense has as much to do with globalization and changing glamor trends as companies’ expertise. The brands of yesteryear concentrated on durability, ability to survive deluges and falls. Today, watches not only match or rival car cockpits with the different amounts of gadgets and dials, but they make some serious fashion statements also.

Since many of the more stock brands stick to basics, I will mention only a few (in alphabetical order) that have different colour bands—green, grey, brown, black, pink, plaid, blue, gold, bright yellow, burgundy, and/or red– to name a few— those we can match or contrast with our accessories.

Burberry’s go well with kaki outfits, solid brown, solid beige, and/or dark blue or grey suits, especially with their own brands of casual outfits. Breitling and Bugatti’s you can match with just about anything: casual or formal. Match the band with some other clothing item. The big R, like in Rolex, you wear not only with your golf outings, but to business meetings as well. The types of watches you select for travel purposes depend on the type of vacation you are going on: outdoors, adventure, leisure, and/or business. I certainly would not recommend taking specific brands on adventure vacations, unless their surfaces are scratch-proof and they are properly insured. Tag Heuer, accented regularly by Tiger Woods, and Swatch appear to be ahead of the curve in the sporting categories.

COMBINATIONS:

Choosing which colour combinations would be as simple as matching other accessories. Certainly one would not wear a beige plaid watch band on one hand and a bright red one on the next hand. That would be a bit much. Since many top brands still have most of their watches in either silver or gold bands, matching the other hand colour would depend on what you are wearing. Even though women will probably pick up on the style, since they already have so many accessories already: scarfs, handbags, gloves, umbrellas–above and beyond those that both sexes share (handkerchiefs, hats, and shoes) men should run with this style initially. After all, cuff links and tie pins are losing their popular appeal and are gradually dying out. That means that men are at an accessory disadvantage. I am not saying the style should or would be a man’s thing, but, since men are short in the accessories’ column–hey guys: “Run with it first.”

Fashion can often be a confusing thing. Items can be hot one minute and not the next, so what should the savvy man be wearing? We’ve put together a little guide to give you the lowdown. Striped sweaters are very popular right not as they’re both slimming and attractive. We love the sweaters that come in block colors and have the occasional sliver of horizontal piping across them, but you can choose anything from lots of thin stripes to a few thick stripes.

An absolute must for men who hate ironing is the broadcloth shirt. These are essentially long-sleeved dress shirts but with a bit of added rumple for that ‘just got out of bed look’. But don’t worry – you won’t look like you’ve dressed in a hurry as they’re also really well cut so you can be sure of looking stylish and put-together, not mismatched and hurried. Choose from a range of colors to find one that looks gorgeous on you. Crisp white is also a really good look.

Another really trendy men’s clothing item right now is the belted jacket. You have loads of choice here, which is great, as it means you’re not just limited to one style. You could choose a belted leather trench, a long wool coat with a belt or a shorted belted jacket that will not only help to secure your coat around you but add an interesting style feature to your garment. Dark colors work really well here, so stick to black, grey or dark blue for a sophisticated look.

If you’re not convinced by the belted option, then considered the black jean or denim jacket. This is really hot right now and it provides a great alternative to regular dark or stonewashed denim. It’ll even look fantastic with your jeans, so you don’t have to worry about clashing shades of denim anymore. You can also pick a jacket that best suits your shape as it’s available as both fitted and looser options. The dyed black denim puts a great twist on the original trend.

The last entry on our list of hot items in men’s clothing is the plaid flannel shirt, which we think looks awesome when teamed with the black jean jacket as discussed above. Particularly great is the fact that flannel is breathable enough to be warm any time but will also keep you warm in the winter. You’re not just limited to one color with the plaid, either, as it now comes in a range of shades, making this eternally popular shirt an even more attractive prospect.
